Experience

A message from Aaron:

Having a neurodivergent mind can bring unique strengths as well as challenges in the workplace. I personally understand the overwhelm that can come from navigating social expectations, business systems, and work environments largely designed around neurotypical norms. These challenges, along with others that may be more personal, can sometimes interfere with your abilities or leave you feeling discouraged and disconnected. I offer honest compassion because I’ve experienced many of these struggles myself.

I also hope to offer practical support, education, and professional experience to help you navigate those challenges and find a path forward that works for you.

I have more than 25 years of firsthand experience as a neurodivergent leader in the highly regulated pharmaceutical industry. Throughout my career, I’ve navigated many of the challenges described above while also finding considerable fulfillment and success. I’ve hired great employees, helped them develop and grow their careers, led teams through complex problems, developed new company-wide processes for improvement, collaborated with global partners to accomplish shared objectives, and taken on many other responsibilities.

While leadership, interpersonal, and technical skills were essential to my career, I believe my ability to thrive as a neurodivergent professional has been shaped equally by my continuous pursuit of wellbeing and self-improvement.

Many of my personal struggles led me to an uncomfortable realization that there was something I didn’t yet understand or know how to do. That realization can be humbling, but it also motivates me to explore what I’m missing and find a way forward. I’ve come to see this cycle of humbling realization, exploration, and discovery as both a challenge and a reward of having a scientific mind.

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to discover many of the tools and principles I’ve needed through academic study, lived experience, and observing what works well for others. I’ve organized much of what I’ve learned into a wellbeing framework grounded in science and Western philosophy called Weatherproof Wellbeing.

I don’t use “weatherproof” to suggest that I’ve figured everything out or that life’s storms can no longer knock me off course. They still can. Rather, the foundational knowledge I’ve gained has given me greater confidence that I have much of the essential wellbeing “gear” I need to weather any challenge that comes my way.  And if a difficult challenge knocks me off course, I trust that I can learn and adapt along the way.

My hope for Weatherproof Wellbeing is simple: to help you discover the specific knowledge, tools, and practices that can help you navigate your current challenges, support your professional growth, and create more opportunities for enjoyment and fulfillment in your life.
